Index is an inventory of the photographs resulting from the aerial survey The State of New York. The card file containing the whole series of photographs references an atlas of The State of New York in 2,427 large sheets—complete with missing parts of the map. What the card index assembles, the atlas disperses, because only a single copy of each sheet is printed.
