In shopping areas in London and Vienna, Marlene Haring stood in the way with a full-length mirror. Her uninvited loitering at the entrances to shops and malls in London provoked many varied reactions from people in passing or directly addressed to the woman behind the mirror. In contrast, people in Vienna seemed afraid to look at themselves in the mirror or to say anything out loud.
