Sucking Marks
$10, commercial service,
ISCP Open Studios, New York, 17 November
2006
Marlene Haring writes:
For the occasion of
the open Studios at ISCP the door of my studio
was open. There I sat in the passage way to my
studio behind a desk to conduct business. For
the opening I sold sucking marks for $10. My
work included bargaining with potential clients.
I made special offers, or also asked them to
tell me what they could offer as a trade. When
a deal was made, I offered my chair to the the
client, whose neck I then cleaned with rubbing
alcohol after which I applied a sucking mark.
