Marlène derrière le miroir (Marlene Behind the Mirror), performance at the opening of Miroir mon beau miroir at Maison Guerlain, Paris, 11 October 2007

I was standing behind a mirror, holding it, nearly blocking the entrance, so visitors had only half a metre to enter on each side of the mirror. I became quite invisible, but a lot of people only realised I was standing there when they were about to leave, and then had a conversation with me. In the end I wrote MARLENE WAS HERE on the back of the mirror. Do you know Jean Cocteau's film, Orphée from 1950? In this film he uses mirrors as the doors to the underworld, the world of death.
